The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaimen

This book is about Nobody Owens, a boy who lives in a graveyard.  All of the ghosts are really nice.  They love him to bits!  An organization called Jack is trying to kill him.  Villains pop up randomly in the book, tracking the boy.  There is lots of betrayal and sadness.  This is scary and sad, but maybe things will turn out for the best?

A Corner of The Universe by Ann M. Martin

This book is about Adam having mental illness problems.  His school closes, so he goes to visit his niece, Hattie, for the summer.  Adam does not want to be proper, much like Hattie, so they quickly become friends.  Adam does some crazy things.  Hattie is not very ladylike, but her grandmother wants her to be a proper lady.  You should read this book if you like sad stories.
