Petey by Ben Mikaelson

This book is about making a difference.  Trevor protects a nursing home patient from bullies, but he worries that they will bully him instead.  As soon as Trevor and Petey (the nursing home patient) meet, Petey knows that they are meant to be friends.  Petey has cerebral palsy and he was misdiagnosed when he was a baby.  Lots of people think that Petey is scary and crazy, but Trevor learns that you just have to get to know him.  This book is a perfect, hopeful story.

Melody remembers everything since the moment she was born.  She is so extremely advanced but nobody knows it.  Nobody knows because Melody can't talk.  Melody has cerebral palsy. Melody is in a wheelchair.  She can't run, eat, or go to the bathroom by herself.  Well, actually  she can't run at all.  She has to keep all  her thoughts in her head.  Until she discovers the Medi-Talker, a machine that talks for people who can not talk.  Some people in Melody's class don't think she should be able to talk.  They think she doesn't have thoughts or feelings.  You'll need tissues to read this book.

Upside Down In The Middle of Nowhere by Julie T. Lamana

Upside Down In The Middle Of Nowhere is about a family who is in their house while Hurricane Katrina is happening.  It is a story of being stranded with your siblings. This story is tragic because Hurricane Katrina was a big terrible storm. It's about trusting people and accepting their gifts. The main point of the story is to explain how bad Katrina was and how it really destroyed some peoples lives and hearts.   Maybe there can be hope and families  can be  reunited.
