Rain Reign by Ann M. Martin

Rain loves homonyms, prime numbers, and rules.  She keeps a list of homonyms that her uncle helps her with.  Her father is mean and her mother ran off, or at least that's what her father told her.  Whenever Rose gets mad or sad, she starts screaming prime numbers.  Rose hates when people don't follow rules.  Rose has a dog named Rain who her father found behind a bar and gave to her as a gift. When a hurricane strikes, Rose's father let's Rain outside without her collar.  Rain doesn't come back. This is a wonderful realistic fiction book.

Emily Windsnap and the land of the Midnight Sun by Liz Kessler

This book is about Neptune having nightmares.  He gets Emily and Aaron to come to his palace.  He tells them to come every morning right before he wakes up so he can tell them about his nightmares.  This is a very dramatic book.  Emily and Aaron are boyfriend and girlfriend and have lots of teenage drama.  Neptune is the ruler of all oceans and he does not have very good social skills.  You should read this book if you like fantasy stories.

The Meaning Of Maggie by Megan Jean Sovern

This book is about a father who can only feel his arms and legs sometimes.  He quits his job at the airport to stay home with his daughters while his wife works at a hotel.  The dad wants to be really cool.  When Maggie sees a boy at school who is really nice to her, she asks her dad for some tips on how to be cool.  Maggie is really smart, but she wants Clyde to notice her.  Then she goes on a suspicious trip with her sisters and her mom but no dad!  Read the book to find out what happens next.

This book is from the perspective of a kid.  Their teacher is making them WRITE!
